National Institute For Certification In Engineering Technologies For Fire Alarm


NICET or National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies was established in 1961. NICET is generally based on the ability of the candidate’s to prove the level of their expertise in the field through an exam, work experience, and practical performance verification. Different level of expertise depends on the various level of certification in the particular field. For advanced level, a recommendation letter is needed for the further documentation. There are twenty-seven different certifications are there in civil engineering and electrical and mechanical engineering technology. For fire alarm system exam candidate have to go to a computer testing center. CBT i.e computer based testing offers the NICET more flexible with exam dates, appointment times, exam scheduling, and exam scoring.



Fire Alarm certification:

NICET has two fire alarm certification. This certification is a robust credential. The fire alarm system certification has developed for those people who is maintenance and periodic fire alarm inspections and who has less experience in another type of fire alarm work.

The level of certification:

There is four level of certifications are there. Those are mentioned below:

Level 1: This is the entry level training
Level 2: In this level, two years of relevant experience is required.
Level 3: In level 3 five years of experience and a recommendation letter is required.
Level 4: This is the final level and at this level, for a major project, ten years of practical relevant experience and recommendation is required.


This program has designed mainly for the technicians who are from fire alarm sector. These technicians works include some fire alarm system activities those are; system layout, system installation, system testing, system trouble shooting, system service and technical sales.This exam will be held at a test center on the computer by a test admin company.
